The Ultimate Festival Companion
Frank Miller’s arrival in Lucca marks a historic moment for European comic collectors. To honor his legacy, our spotlight selection is the pinnacle of physical comic preservation: IDW’s Daredevil Artist’s Edition. Printed at the exact dimensions of Miller’s original drawing board (12" x 17" / 30,5 cm x 43 cm), this volume allows you to experience his revolutionary storytelling in its purest, unedited form.
Scanned directly from the original artwork on high-density paper, every page reveals the raw hand of the master—from blue pencil layouts and paste-ups to dark, heavy ink washes and correction fluid. It isn't just a book; it's a museum exhibit you can carry to the signing line.
Frank Miller helped redefine sequential storytelling in the early 1980s. His style, influenced by Will Eisner’s The Spirit, was new and exciting. One of his earliest issues featured the introduction of Elektra and was the first issue Miller wrote. This Artist’s Edition features pages from Miller’s earliest beginnings on Daredevil (issues 159, 163, 165), as well as the glory days when Miller began writing the character as well as drawing it, including #168 (the first appearance of the iconic Elektra), as well as his continuing run on issues 169, 171, 172, 174-181 (#181 being the oversized classic "Death of Elektra"), followed by pages from issues 184-191 ( Miller’s final issue). Issues 168 and 181 have many of the most important and compelling sequences in these truly classic and historically important stories. Frank Miller’s Daredevil not only ranks as one of the classic comics of its era, and is a precursor to Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, Ronin, and Sin City. Additionally, more than 20 covers, including 17 from Miller’s classic Daredevil run, are included in this volume

Dispatches from the archive
"As someone who usually dreads ordering heavy Omnibuses online because of crushed corners, Brixen Vault is a total revelation. The box arrived reinforced like an armored vault, and the book was flawless down to the millimeter. The handwritten inspection card inside made unboxing feel like taking delivery of a museum piece."
- Rafael C., Copenhagen
"Brixen Vault isn't a bookstore. It’s a private library service. Opening the package, pulling out the soft-touch certificate, and holding a completely pristine oversized edition made me realize how careless standard retailers have gotten. You can tell whoever packed this actually respects sequential art."
- Rebecca E., Lucca
"Finding curated, high-end English graphic literature shipped directly within Europe without astronomical customs delays or destroyed slipcases used to be impossible. The curation here is razor-sharp, and the presentation is unmatched."
- Gianluca B., Pietrasanta
About us
The vault
THE CURATION
We select works for their cultural permanence and physical craft. Brixen Vault is not a general bookstore, but a private archive of masterwork sequential literature: oversized omnibuses, definitive library editions, and rare monographs curated for discerning collectors.
THE DISPLAY
To complement the world’s finest graphic literature, we partner with regional stone artisans near our Lucca studio to create bespoke display objects. Milled from genuine Italian marble and natural stone, our monoliths and slabs elevate heavy volumes into centerpiece sculptures.
THE STEWARDSHIP
Every volume is individually hand-inspected for pristine structural condition, corner-guarded, and wrapped in protective acid-free casing before leaving our hands. If a book doesn't meet collector standards, it never leaves our vault.
