Creator Dossier

Edgar P. Jacobs
Edgar P. Jacobs (1904–1987) was a pioneering Belgian comic book writer and artist, globally recognized as one of the founding fathers of the Franco-Belgian comics movement. He is best known as the creator of the seminal science fiction and espionage series Blake and Mortimer, which debuted in 1946. Before forging his own path with his baroque, highly detailed ligne claire drawing style, Jacobs collaborated extensively with Hergé, notably contributing to the visual development and coloring of The Adventures of Tintin. Renowned for his meticulous research, atmospheric suspense, and iconic villains like the nefarious Olrik, Jacobs’s stories remain a cornerstone of European sequential art and continue to be celebrated through new volumes long after his passing.
